Student Council

The Student Council is a group of students from grades two through five that meet regularly during the school year and represent each of the classrooms. Student representatives may be chosen by the classroom teacher, elected by classmates or chosen through an essay contest in the fall of each year. This activity is lead by a teacher advisor.

The Southview Student Council objectives include:

  • listening to student body ideas and concerns
  • generating ideas and projects that encourage school spirit
  • financially supporting students and teachers with special projects
  • encouraging student participation with the school community
  • developing leadership qualities
  • helping people with the community

The following is a list of projects that the student council has helped support in the past:

  • Apple Villa senior volunteer program
  • Adopt and animal- Minnesota Zoo
  • School sweatshirt sales
  • School store
  • Sunshine fund for student crisis emergencies
  • Dakota County Crises Nursery
  • Armful of Love
  • I.R.I.S. Apple Valley Fire Department
  • Purchasing and installing kiln for Visual Arts program
  • Purchasing new Sony Digital Camera
  • Dollars for Afghan Children
  • Tsunami Relief
